Fayette County Habitat Accepting Applications

from Harvey flood Victims

Fayette County Habitat for Humanity, an organization based on Christian principles, announces the opening of their family selection process to Harvey flood victims.   FCHfH recently received funding from the Good Shepard Fund to help construct a new home specifically for a family that lost their home in the flood. Proof will be required to show loss of home due to the flooding.  A qualified family will be selected to purchase a new home to be constructed on Pearl St. in La Grange.  Since 2005, FCHfH has partnered with six families in Fayette County and is excited to be able to help a family that was affected by the recent flooding.

To qualify for the purchase of a Fayette County Habitat home you must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident; have lived in Fayette County for the last twelve months; have the ability to pay a $1,500.00 down payment; have the ability to pay the no-interest mortgage on the house to be built; but make less than $51,322 per year for a family of eight, $48,211 for a family of seven, $45,101 for a family of six, $41,990 for a family of five, $38,880 for a family of four, $34,992 for a family of three, $31,104 for a family of two, and $27,216 for an individual.  Qualified families must fall between the 60% and 30% Area Median Income range based on the HUD 2017 Income Limits for Texas. You must also be in need of adequate housing, and be willing to partner by working at least 300 “sweat equity” hours, attending education workshops, and more.

If you or someone you know is interested and qualify based on this information, join us Tuesday, December 5 at 6:00 p.m. for an Information Meeting and Orientation at the Randolph Recreation Center, Bldg A- Assembly Room, 653 E. Pearl St., La Grange.  Applications will be distributed at the meeting. Applications will be accepted until Friday, December 22, 2017.  For more information please visit our website at www.fayettecountyhabitat.org or call 979-639-1599.  Equal Housing Opportunity.

Many, many hours of rewarding work go into building a home. The campaigning of Fayette County Habitat for Humanity is going well, but there is still much more to be done.  That’s why we’re writing - to ask if you could spare some time to serve with us and be a part of this fulfilling effort as a volunteer in our great community?

There’s no special expertise required. All you need is the belief that Fayette County Habitat for Humanity is an organization worth working for, and that volunteers are the most important part of our success and mission.

There are nails to be driven, walls to be raised, and shelter to be given to provide a decent affordable home for one more fortunate family in Fayette County. There is a lot of work to be done and we need your help!

If you would like to spend even a few hours a week as a volunteer, give us a call at Fayette County Habitat for Humanity at 979-639-1599 or click on Volunteer, More Info and complete and submit the Volunteer Questionnaire. It’ll be one of the most fulfilling things you have ever done!

We look forward to hearing from you.
